A text when a server goes quiet.

An automated uptime monitor watches self-hosted server equipment. When a machine misses its scheduled check-in, it sends one SMS. When the machine comes back, it sends one more. Nothing else is ever sent.

What the messages look like

Every message names the program, names the system, and carries opt-out instructions:

• Lukas Westberg Homelab Alerts: DOWN - rv2-heartbeat has not checked in. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.
• Lukas Westberg Homelab Alerts: UP - rv2-heartbeat is reporting again. Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.

The whole program in four lines

• Transactional alerts only. No marketing, ever.
• Message frequency varies, typically fewer than 5 messages per month.
• Message and data rates may apply.
• Reply STOP to unsubscribe, HELP for help.
• Text messaging is optional; email alerts work on their own.

Alerts are delivered by email. Subscribing takes one field on the subscribe page.

Text messaging is a separate, optional add-on. You can subscribe without a mobile number and without agreeing to text messages, and you will receive the same alerts by email. The SMS consent checkbox is never pre-checked, is kept separate from the Terms of Service, and declining it does not restrict anything.
